Two police officers have been assigned to protect Jesús Tomillero Benavente, a gay spanish soccer referee the day after he refereed a youth match where he was subject of verbal abuse. The bullying continued online and he received several death threats even after he quit being a referee.
“You’re a son of a bitch, you’ve screwed the club. I hope you die of AIDS, you fag,” was one messages he received through Twitter.
