“Emotions come and go. Remember to only process the feelings of a particular (negative) emotion for FIVE MINUTES and then let go ! Holding on to a negative emotion for more than 5 minutes is simply self-sabotage, denial and punishment !”
We all know that soccer is a competitive sport between two teams. But how often do we see that team members are quarreling against eachother or that players sabotage themselves during the game ?
If you are a soccer player, know that your biggest opponent is often yourself ! Let us go into the group dynamics of a soccer team and categorize some of these players.
The thinker
Do you believe there’s a voice in your head that is always there to criticize you and contradicting everything that you do ? That’s your inner critic who is getting in the way ! He can say nasty things like : “You can never repeat such a move again.” or : “You moron, that ball should have been in !”
It’s not a good time to judge every move you make on the field. Trust that you will perform at your best and stay focused. Observe your actions instead of judging them !
The doubter
Doubters lack self confidence. Their self talk is usually negative and judgemental towards themselves and they are easily struck down by the criticism of others (team members, opponents, coach and supporters). Watch the body language of the player altering after a remark : he will be completely out of the game (not focused), and he will lose strength (the remark “hits” him and makes him go weak !)
The bully
So you think you are strong when you’re angry ? Guess what ? Nope ! An aggressive and tensed player gets weak too and is prone to injuries. Why ? Whenever you are not balanced, you will use muscles that aren’t neccessarily useful during soccer. Your muscles will start contracting, you will use a lot of energy that you could have used to the maximum when you would have been focused on the game ! Not to mention the consequences you have to face afterwards when you were verbally or physically aggressive towards someone…
The cryer
Here’s the other side of the emotional pendulum : the sad one always plays the victim. Just as the angry player will go weak, the emotional one will lack the energy to play a good game. They often are not resilient to what happens around them and would rather throw in the towel after a misser. Why continue ? We have already lost the game…Their head is already in the shower…
The frustrated player
The frustrated one will focus on everything that goes wrong in the team and will get angry because of his own “stupidity” or because of other players’ actions. He will eventually start yelling at other players and will get stressed and demotivated too. Remember that you are a team and that you have a common goal to achieve. Keep yourself and others motivated !
The unmotivated player
Are you forced by your parents to play soccer ? Would you rather do something else then playing soccer ? Are you just keeping your father’s dream alive ? Time for an honest chat if you would ask me !
Players can also get demotivated by their environnement. This includes angry parents and coaches, supporters, jealous girlfriends, disputes between team members etc…
And then there are players who don’t show up for practise and expect to play and win the next game on saturday…
The egoist
So you think you got it all worked out for you…and that you really don’t need to practise that hard. It’s a piece of cake acccording to you. You would rather drop dead than to pass the ball to a team member whose in a better position to score. You are surprised when other team members start to exclude you. “What are they thinking ? Ignoring a great talent like me….”
Also remember that “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
The comedian
You do need fun and pleasure otherwise you will never keep on top of your performances, but that doesn’t mean the game has to become a caricature, a theatre play or a drama. Don’t waste your precious time by giving us a magnificent show, people are here to watch a soccer game, not a stand up comedy !
The balanced one
Do you really want to be the next Messi or Ronaldo ? When the passion for soccer comes from deep within…you are destined to become a great athlete ! The great ones keep going despite all outer appearences and judgements of others…
Remember they said Messi was too small to be a succesful soccer player ? You can always prove them wrong. Build up your mental strength and emotional resilience and work hard to be a winner !
Next time we’ll discuss the tools you can use to beat any opposition on your way to success !
“Shadows dripping in silver light cast from an illusive moon, stir, then magically still, leaving doubts adrift in the mind of the observer…Was there movement of shadow within shadow or only the illusion of such, like breath caught on a summer breeze ?
Sister of Artemis, and Guardian of the Gateway between the Known and the Unknown, you prowl the Night, bearing witness to the blackness that exists before the dawning of morning Light. Blazing eyes pierce the veil of darkness of Forgotten Realms, to bring Consciousness to the Unconscious.
To follow your sleek and silent form as it glides as a spectral mist through the night, is to face the deepest fears that prowl the jungles of the Human Mind.
When we learn to move as you move, through those overgrown and tangled vines, we come to understand that even in the darkest of journeys, the Illuminating Rays of Faith and Acknowledgement will provide us with the Light to guide us safely on the Other Side.”
No, this isn’t another review of the movie – although it’s definitely on my list to watch. I want to talk about this gracious big cat that is a symbol for strength, prophecy and transformation.
I really do believe the black panther is my spirit animal. There are a lot of similarities between us. What does it mean when “the black panther” appears to you as a spirit guide or is near in your life ?
Black panthers are natural protectors and leaders
The black cats in my life have always considered themselves my guardian angels. My first cat that accompanied me through childhood was a black one, she was 18 when she passed away. Later Buffy became my black protector, she would have beaten you up whenever you came too close to me !
I remember the first time my boyfriend stayed over night, he got up with scars all over his face. You never know when their dark side takes over – especially when no one is watching !
Black panthers are the ultimate shapeshifters
Black panthers actually are leopards or jaguars with a genetic difference that gives them a black coat. Their authentic nature is hidden, you can only see slight color variations and spots when you are very close to the animal, so they are masters of disguise and are able to move through the dark without notice.
Black panthers encourage us to embrace our shadow side
Black panthers help us eliminate our fear of the dark and the unknown. They will guide us while we work through our fears. They urge us to expand our awareness and to become a “whole” new person. They tell you that you are safe while making this transition.
Black panthers enjoy solitude
Black panthers are born loners and will tend to connect to other solitary souls. They often move in and out of someone’s life, just to assist for a brief period of time. Panther people rarely reveal too much about themselves. They know when to be silent or rather let their actions speak.
Black panthers are symbol for strength and willpower
People tend to have an adoration for these animals because of their fierceness and strength. The black panther will show agression when it is cornered and won’t shy away from a fight if necessary.
If you have the black panther as your totem, you are likely to be brave, always prepared to go the extra mile and focused on getting what you want !
Black panther is curious and awakens our inner passions or our slumbering talents. The black panther urges us to reclaim our power, especially after a period of pain and suffering.
Black panthers are symbol of the feminine, sensitivity and sexuality
Black panthers often appear to women, they ask them to stand their own ground and use their natural given powers properly. This includes embracing all of who you are ! If you were victim of harassement or rape, the black panther will offer assistance in getting rid of feelings such as shame, blame and guilt.
Black panthers have prophetic qualities
Black panthers are very sensitive to energy and are extremely intuitive. They are able to read another’s energy and to even influence the thoughts and actions of others. They clearly see your motives and your intentions, making people think Black panther people can look in the future. Because of their understanding of people’s actions and motives, you better be honest with them, as they see through all the lies you tell ! They easily spot fake people.
Black panthers often struggle to find their own identity
They might feel as a stranger in a strange land. Absolutely not of this world ! Their direct approach can seem very threatening to others and they often catch attention undeliberately ! You will eighter love a panther or totally dislike them !
Transformation
When the spirit of the black panther is fully empowered within us they teach others that there is nothing in the darkness to be feared and that you can use the light to shine away all darkness !
“Part of my preparation is I go and ask the kit man what colour we’re wearing – if it’s red top, white shorts, white socks or black socks. Then I lie in bed the night before the game and visualise myself scoring goals or doing well. You’re trying to put yourself in that moment and trying to prepare yourself, to have a ‘memory’ before the game. I don’t know if you’d call it visualising or dreaming, but I’ve always done it, my whole life.”
“In a dream, in a vision of the night, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.”
Book of Job (33: 15-16)
It’s 9 am and you are sitting at your desk in front of your computer. Are you ready for take off ? Ready to face all challenges ?
The course of your day might depend on how it actually started. Let us rewind for a moment. What were you thinking of before you arrived at your workplace, when you were driving in your car ?
When you were at home, were you arguing with your spouse at the breakfast table ? Were you rushing to get the kids ready for school, were you screaming and shouting or running around like a headless chicken ?
When you heard your alarm going off this morning and you pushed the snooze button, how were you feeling ? Were you anxious to get out of bed, thinking : “All that awaits is another shitty day in the office” ? Well, isn’t that enough stress to start your day with ?
Why don’t you take some time to balance yourself and take control over the course of your day ?
Two key moments of the day is the morning when you wake up, when you open your eyes and the moment before you go to sleep, when you shut your eyes.
The morning is used to determine your vision. While you are still in bed, start by focusing on your breath, inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, exhale gently through your mouth. What do you exactly desire today ? Evoke a mental picture of your ideal day.
Keep breathing at a gentle pace and try to notice the pause beween your breaths, between filling and emptying your lungs.
If you increase this pause without forcing your breathing, your mind will become quieter, and a quiet mind means a powerful mind. You can access a natural state of higher consciousness.
Have you ever looked at a sunset, or a spectacular landscape and felt in awe ? Didn’t you say afterwards : “That moment just took my breath away” ? Didn’t your thinking cease aswell ?
The evening is intended to revise the day. Start to focus on your breath as you did in the morning. Rewind your day to see what has happened. This might be difficult in the beginning, but you’ll make progress very easily ! Once you’ve fully mastered this revision technique, you can put certain moments on hold.
Scenes for example that you would prefer to see differently, more enjoyable, you can start adjusting according to your preference !
Make sure you don’t cling on to fearful situations. Do not go to sleep constantly repeating all the bad stuff that has happened in your life. It’s important that you have a clear image of what you want and a positive feeling should accompany it. If you can’t imagine a positive outcome, you better focus on a positive statement or you can silently chant “OM” or repeat another mantra.
If you feel you are losing control during the day and troublesome emotions are bubbling up, use a breathing technique such as Freeze Frame® or Quick Coherence® developed by the HeartMath institute to bring you back into this balanced state. Always try to visualize a feel good situation, imagine yourself in your happy place just as Happy Gilmore did !
This vision and revision technique will help you “clean up” daily and you will consciously choose to steer your life in the direction you want.
It wil also help you build a pause between stimulus and response, before you react to the external stimuli around you.
Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life. Every day offers you a chance for renewal, every day is a gift !
Life loves you. Give that love back by putting it in yourself first and stop your negative self-talk, your oppressive, restrictive thoughts and focus on the good.
Brain cells create ideas. Stress kills brain cells Stress is not a good idea !
It’s that time of the year…everyone is instigating eachother with germs. I was amongst the unlucky ones this week and got struck, I really felt miserable, unable to write, just feeling the need to rest and to sleep !
Monday I promised someone to be present at a meeting to offer him support but I was obliged to cancel it. By the end of the day, I had lost my voice completely !
I am still wondering whether this was a good thing or a bad thing. Soccer meetings are dangerous and can even get me mixed up further. I tell you why.
No one is speaking their truth anymore. No one “tells it as it is”. Sometimes there’s a lot of gossip going around before the meeting and you assume people will mention all of this…untill they are standing face to face with the person concerned, then they completely shut down !
So what follows is that me, highly sensitive as I am, after “reading” and collecting all the members’ frustrations I just spit them out ! There’s nothing funny about that really !
Before you have completed a sentence, there’s the moderator of the meeting, getting in defensive/aggressive mode, acting more as a buffer zone between the board and us.
It’s a constant play of throwing the ball back and forth without getting to a real solution. A game none of us can win. You might aswell play bullshit bingo…
A lot of people don’t realize that you can regard any group, company, club as a person. It has a spirit too. You don’t need a crystal ball to know that a sick mind will take sick actions eventually, there’s no difference with group “spirits”. I am convinced the board of our soccer club has a completely different agenda than ours.
There’s lack of focus, lack of vision, no structure at all. Instead of regarding their youthplayers as their potential and taking action towards their growth, supporting us with material and other needs, they are just sucking the life completely out of us ! It’s like they are slowly letting us bleed to death….
Being a strong advocate of putting the right man or woman at the right place, I even offered my services to help them but there was barely interest. All they could see was my wrapping paper that said “woman and blond”, useless to say I got my hands off it and these gentlemen lost an opportunity for good…
Do I often go to these meetings ? I used to …but not anymore, I am a lover, not a fighter ! I am a doer, not a talker ! They know I will be back when instead of arguing they will be inspired to take some real action !
And for those with eyes to see and ears to listen : all useful coaching information is on my website…
“Pharug”- You might have thought what this term is. Search for it, and I am of the opinion that you won’t get the answer. Its because it is me, who coined this word by joining two words- Pharma and Drugs. Read more : Pharug.
